The new year is coming.
The famous 1st January 2018 is coming. We have been waiting for it for a long time. A date, a corner stone.
Now things will get serious, obtaining the Novel Food authorization will make the difference between the companies that will remain in the industry and those that will not. Then we’ll see new ones, necessarily injecting creativity and innovation in the field to propose new products and gain commercial space. In short, the moment is crucial and in the coming months the excitement can only increase exponentially.
But in Italy?
Italy has been left behind, it is true, and has accumulated a discouraging disadvantage. We do know this is not because of the entrepreneurs. But crying is useless, the premises for a great success of 100% made-in-Italy edible insects are always there, intact, unused. As we have already said (see here and here), the opportunities of this new sector are enormous, but we need to manage this phase at best.
The keywords, not only for Italian companies, are: quality, transparency, professionalism, product innovation. Without forgetting an effective and honest communication.
For the consumer, on the other hand, the advice is to be attentive to the labels, the origins, the hygiene and food safety standards of the companies they but the products from. And not to trust who in this sector has entered and is entering at the last minute, seeking for easy money.
